Preparing for Your vort
Prior to undertaking your Vort you may want to consider having some driving lessons.
Having driving lessons is important because you will need to know what is required in your vort.
If you are transferring your overseas license and have been issued a temporary permit the permit
is valid for 3 months. It is recommended that you have driving lessons in the 3month period.
Your Vort
The Examiner will meet you at the hub at the date and time you have booked.
When you arrive at the hub the Examiner will be able to identify you by your vehicle registration number.
Roadworthy Vehicle Check
Prior to the Examiner starting your vort a road worthy check will be conducted.
> Brake Lights
> Indicators
> Warning Device
> Current Registration
> Tires are Roadworthy.
General Drive
The general drive component of your Vort will test your driving skills e.g., changing lanes, turning on and from busy roads, turning at traffic lights, negotiating roundabouts, stop and give-way signs, your interaction with other road users and the system of car control.
To pass a Vort you must demonstrate 5 slow speed Maneuvers, and in combination with the general drive score, a pass mark of 90% or more and not breach any road law during the drive.
5 Manoeuvres
> 3 Point Turn
> Moving Off
> U turn
> Angle Park
> Reverse Parallel Park
VORT – Information Overview
All Vort are conducted in the clients Vehicle. As an Examiner and a trainer for many years I have found people like to use their own vehicle for both training and testing.
Why is this? Because they are in their own environment, they feel in control as they are familiar in their own vehicle.
People who do a Vort in a Vehicle they have never driven before can be unfamiliar, in particular not knowing where certain controls are.
VORT Driving Test Cancellation Policy
Bookings cancelled less than 5 days prior to the test date and time are not refundable unless the Examiner can make another booking for your specific time slot. If this is the case, your fee is refunded minus the Service SA booking fee of $35.00.
Service SA Booking fees
Once the Examiner has booked your Vort with Service SA the Examiner has been charged a fee of $35.00.
If you are needing to reschedule (Once the Examiner has booked) you will be required to pay a further $35.00
for the new booking because Service SA booking rules.
Why do we have VORT Testing Hubs?
There are specific VORT testing hubs because there VORT tests are regulated by our government to ensure our
road safety is maintained.
